Test Results

Patients will have blood or urine tests usually on advice of a Doctor. The practice nurse may also do them as part of regular monitoring of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, and rheumatoid arthritis etc.

If you have a laboratory test (blood or urine) or an X-ray arranged at the practice please ensure that you follow up the results.

Most blood and urine test take a week or so to come back though some tests may take longer. X-rays usually take about 2 weeks.

Normally you should phone reception for results unless the doctor or nurse has asked you to make a follow up appointment for them. Please phone reception on 0141 339 3626 between 2pm and 6pm to ask for the results. Please allow 7 days after the bloods were taken before phoning.

We may on occasions contact you directly if a test result indicates that further action is necessary. Please ensure that we have an up to date contact number for you and that we are notified of any change of address.

Please always ensure that you follow up on lab tests and don’t assume that no news is good news.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
